INSURANCE OPEN ENROLLMENT

The Open Enrollment period for all insurance coverages will be from November 1, 2014 through November 26, 2014.  Coverage changes will be effective January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2015.  This is also the enrollment period for the Flexible Spending Accounts (Medical Reimbursement and Dependent Care) as well as supplemental benefits available through AFLAC.

All Enrollment/Change Forms are due to the Human Resources Office by no later than November 26, 2014

MESSA MEDICAL INSURANCE

Medical coverage for Monroe County ISD employees is through MESSA.  Employees have a choice of medical plans, MESSA Choices or MESSA ABC 1 Plan.  For a review of these plans please visit the MESSA website at www.messa.org and sign in to your member account.  If you have not already registered and created a member account, use the following link for directions create member account.  For instructions to view your Open Enrollment form, click here.

Once you have created a member account, you can select the Open Enrollment option to view your Open Enrollment Statement (OE), a Benefit Summary of available plans (BSR) and a Summary of Benefit Coverage (SBC) giving detailed information of each plan.

Your Open Enrollment Statement can be used to:

  • Add or delete dependents
  • Change insurance plans
  • Cancel or enroll in MESSA options
  • Change name and/or address

If you make changes to your Enrollment Statement, please print, sign and return to the Human Resources Department no later than November 26, 2014.

If you are not making changes to your current insurance coverage, no action is required.

 DENTAL AND VISION INSURANCE

Dental and vision insurance coverage for Monroe County ISD employees is provided by SET SEG.  For a review of these plans please visit the links at the right.  Individual current coverage information will be provided by Human Resources upon request.

Use the SET/SEG Change Form to:

  • Add or delete dependents
  • Change name and/or address

Use the SET/SEG Subscriber Application to enroll in either the dental and/or vision plan.

If you are not making changes to your current insurance coverage, no action is required.

VOLUNTARY TERM LIFE INSURANCE

Optional employee paid Voluntary Life Insurance is available to employees and eligible dependents through SET SEG.  For a complete explanation of these benefits, select Voluntary Term Life Guide.  The Voluntary Enrollment Form is also available Voluntary Term Life Enrollment.

CASH-IN-LIEU

Employees choosing to opt out of medical and/or dental coverage for the new plan year become eligible for cash-in-lieu of insurance.  Completion of an Insurance Election/Verification form is necessary if this is a new election for you.  Links to this form for each employee group can be found on the right side forms menu.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS

The Monroe County Intermediate School District offers two types of Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) – the Medical Reimbursement Account and Dependent Care Account to employees who are eligible for insurance benefits.  These accounts reimburse you for certain medical and dependent care expenses.  Payroll deductions are taken on a pretax basis. Effective January 1, 2014 employees may carryover up to $500 of their current year contributions to the following year's expenses.

Employees who are enrolled in the MESSA ABC Plan1 are NOT eligible enroll in a Flexible Spending Medical Reimbursement Account.  They may sign up for a Limited Purpose account, which allows expense for dental and vision only.

 NOTE: You must enroll each year in the FSA
