Educational Center Accreditation

Public Act 335 states that all local school district buildings must be accredited or be in the process of becoming accredited. However, there are not clear accreditation standards for special education facilities, such as MAP (Michigan Accreditation Program) or NCA (North Central Association). The state is considering center-based program accreditation, but presently there is not a developed method of implementation. Each intermediate school district is required to have a Mandatory Special Education Plan approved by the State Board of Education.

MCISD's 3-year Mandatory Plan received local ISD board approval and endorsement by the Monroe County Superintendent's Association. It was approved by the Michigan Department of Education and the Michigan State Board of Education.

The Master Plan outlines the programs and operating procedures for special education services in Monroe County.
