Program for Children with Hearing Impairments (HI)
The Monroe County Program for Children with Hearing Impairments (MCPCHI) is a public school program which provides quality auditory-oral programming in a maintstream setting for children from birth through age 25.
The Monroe County Program for Children with Hearing Impairments is part of the special education programs and services funded through the Monroe County Intermediate School District.
Program History
Established in 1957, the program is operated by the Ida Public Schools in Ida, Michigan, and provides a wide range of educational programming for students with hearing impairments. Students are served in their homes, in the center-based program, in general education classes at Ida, and in their local school districts. The program is recognized as one of the finest in the nation, an award-winning system of services and resources for students throughout Monroe County.
